Summary
Dr Zarrar Chowdary completed his Medical Degree from Ayub Medical College, Pakistan in 1999. He gained MRCPsych from the Royal College of Psychiatry in 2006 and subsequently FRCPsych in 2018 in England, UK. Dr Chowdary went on to further become a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2012. He has also obtained ABAM (USA) 2015 and AFRACMA.
Dr Chowdary is currently involved in private practice in Melbourne. Additionally, he is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Dual Diagnosis for Monash Health and an Adjunct Lecturer at Monash University. Dr Chowdary is a member of The Faculty of Addiction Psychiatry and an examiner for both the Australian Medical council and Royal Australian College of Psychiatrists. He has previously held the positions of Staff Specialist for alcohol & drug services and community psychiatry both in Australia and England.
Dr Chowdary has authored chapters for text book in Addiction psychiatry and was editor for Registrars for a quarterly newsletter.
He has a particular interest in alcohol use disorder, mental disorders, depression and chronic pain. His assessment specialties include general adult psychiatry, addiction, PTSD, anxiety, mood disorders, bipolar disorders and panic disorders.
